Christmas might be a few months away, but the National Wool Museum is celebrating the festive season early with My Cup Runneth Over, a yuletide feast of craft.

Running from 19 August to 13 November, My Cup Runneth Over displays intricate Christmas decorations created by artisans from South West Victoria and inspired by the Johnston Collection, an exclusive house museum in Melbourne.
‘Christmas at the Johnston Collection’ is often a sell-out, so this is a chance for people who missed the 2010 show, to see an elaborate range of pieces including a crocheted candlestick of St. Mark, a fruit platter made from silk, a decorated toilet bowl and a full festive spread of cards, presents, trees and angels.

Contributing artisans include the Barongarook Craft Group, Cobden CWA, Embroiderers Guild Victoria (South Western Branch), Fitzroy River Lacemakers, Narrawong Craft Group, Heywood Fitzroy River Quilters, Port Fairy Craft Group and Card Makers, as well as individual artists from the South West Region of Victoria.
The Johnston Collection itself is an amazing collection of Georgian and Regency furniture, paintings, ceramics and objets d’art bequeathed to the people of Victoria by William Johnston in 1986. It is housed in Fairhall in East Melbourne. ‘Christmas at the Johnston Collection’ is an annual exhibition featuring craftspeople and artists from regional Victoria.
